H Pylori Tests

A signed requisition from a Québec certified Doctor or a Nurse Practitioner is Required to ensure a follow-up care.

In order to obtain the most accurate results, certain restrictions should be observed for the H pylori Breath Test:

• Fasting for 4 hours before the test, no food, no drinks. Do not smoke, chew gum or brush your teeth in that time period;
• Discontinue stomach medication for the following period (except on the recommendation of your doctor):
• Proton Pump Inhibitors: 3 days before the test;
• Histamine H2 receptors antagonists: 1 day before the test;
• Antibiotics: 4 weeks before test;

Bismuth preparations: 2 weeks before the test.

• All other Breath Tests or Barium tests should not be performed on the same day as H Pylori testing.
